Mill Creek Organic Gardens
Mill Creek Organic Gardens was established March 2010 in the Western Foothills of North Carolina. The waters of Mill Creek originate in the South Mountain area of the Blue Ridge Mountains which eventually Bless the Gardens.
Originally from Southern Indiana, we grew up in the country and have always enjoyed being outdoors, exploring and learning about the lands around us. Although we did not grow up in North Carolina, we have made this our home and through research and trial and error, we have learned much about the differences as well as the similarities of the ecosystems in the different regions. We have learned to appreciate the earth we share with the wildlife and insects and know that because we respect it, our earth will always provide for us.
At Mill Creek Organic Gardens we strive to maintain a permaculture environment that is free of harmful pesticides and insecticides, one which will grow and sustain the sweetest of produce. Mill Creek Organic Gardens practices succession planting so we can provide continuous harvest of our fresh produce to our customers throughout the market season. We have learned that companion planting and crop rotation yields greater production in a smaller space as well as feeds the earth with the necessary nutrients it needs to remain healthy.
A specialty at MCOG is our selection of lettuces and greens, but we are also very happy to offer many different night shades, garlic & shallots, plus a variety of colorful zucchini, eggplant, radishes and select fresh herbs. We enjoy introducing different varieties of the common vegetables and providing our customers with produce that is eye catching and tastes great.
You can find more information about Mill Creek Organic Gardens on our developing website, www.millcreekorganicgardens.com where we hope to list our products that will be available and have pictures of the gardens in various stages. We will be providing recipes that feature our produce, gardening and cooking tips and more on our site.
We are excited and happy to participate in our second year at the Denver Farmers Market. We look forward to seeing all of the regular customers and vendors again, and hope to meet more this season.
